2021 Holley Ford Festival - Grand Champion Competiton

Entering the Grand Champion class at the 2021 Holley Ford Festival is a great way to see just how well-rounded your machine actually is. Sure, you can go fast in a straight line...so can a bullet. But can your Bullit do more than just run down a dragstrip quickly? Can it carve through the corners with the precision of a scalpel? Can it change direction on a whim, and can it stop fast enough that you'll find yourself yelling out "Whoa!" as if you were bringing a horse down from a gallop? If so, then Grand Champion is certainly for you. The class is broken up into three main run groups:

  • Late Model, for any car newer than 1990
  • Vintage, for any vehicle 1989 and older (including the Ranchero ute)
  • Truck, regardless of when it was manufactured

The rules are pretty straightforward: there is one driver per vehicle and that vehicle must be on one set of tires throughout the weekend (unless something like a catastrophic blowout happens, then the tire must be replaced with the same brand and model that was already on the vehicle). Drivers must have a license and an NHRA license if the vehicle is fast enough to warrant one. All cars must be legal and registered for street use and all vehicles and drivers must have the proper safety equipment.

Provided those rules are met, the three events that compose the Grand Champion class are:

  • Autocross, held on a course within Beech Bend Raceway's oval track
  • Drag Race, on Beech Bend's dragstrip
  • 3S Challenge, held in Beech Bend's oval track

Throughout the weekend, drivers will compete to earn the top place within their categories. The winners will receive $1,000 cash, a plaque, and a jacket.

Note: We apologize that we weren’t able to get the Autocross and Grand Champion results out in the traditional way that our participants are used to. USCA has been working with us to develop a link housing all of our event results. We’ll be moving to this method of results sharing going forward. This is going to greatly reduce the amount of time it took us to get results up in the past and allows us to better service our participants. Thanks for your patience and we’ll see you at our next Holley event!

Dan Kuhn’s 1972 Ford Maverick is far from the affordable compact it was once marketed as, but lives life now a cone-killer competing in the Grand Champion Vintage class at Holley Ford Festival 2021.
