There’s not much Angel Gaulden loves more than racing her Camaro. The Macon, Georgia resident is a two-time NMCA winner and has made her first pilgrimage to Holley LS Fest East.
Angel competes in a 2014 ZL1 Camaro that she usually tows to events with her son and friends, but rolling solo, she decided to drive the Chevy to Bowling Green. Angel will compete in the Rumble category, where she’ll slam gears and have fun with the droves of LS enthusiasts.
“I just love getting to the track and racing my Camaro,” Angel told us. “I used to live in Tampa, so we’d race at Bradenton all the time. We also travel to NMCA and other events as far away as Michigan. I’ve always wanted to come to LS Fest and even though I’m by myself, I wasn’t going to miss it. I put on my drag radials at home and drove the 400 miles from Macon.”
“I’m so excited to see all the Camaros here all my racing friends,” continued Angel. “This track is so cool and it’s awesome to see the drag racing, Drifting, Grand Champion racers and all the wild builds. Some of the cars and trucks are just wild. There are no restrictions, if you dream it up you can build it. All the manufacturers and support, makes this a must-attend event.”
Angel’s ZL1 has been modified with a JLT Cold-Air intake, a 93-Octane tune and she’s run a best of 11.30 at 117 mph. “I’m always improving at doing burnouts and refining my launch and shift technique. The car has plenty of power, and it hooks up pretty good with a BMR Suspension, Viking Shocks and my Mickey Thompson tires. In addition to the cold and tune, Angel’s ZL1 has a McLeod clutch and she’s looking to install a two-step to improve consistency at the line.”
