Here at ACCEL, we work for the racers, but also, racers work for us. One of our employees is Alcohol Funny Car driver Todd Veney. This past weekend, Todd raced at Lebanon Valley in upstate New York, near Albany. The event was part of the NHRA Lucas Oil Division 1 race weekend. In the first round he ran the low ET of the meet at 5.58. He followed that near track-record with the low ET of the semi finals at 5.69. In the final round, Todd was matched up with Dan Pomponio, the #5 driver in the country last year. The clouds had dissipated and the track got hot and greasy. Both cars were all over the track, Todd won with a 6.33, andDan was disqualified for crossing the outer boundary. Todd Veney's car is a Top Alcohol/Methanol Funny Car with a Supercharged 526 Chrysler Hemi Fuel Injected, all billet aluminum engine. It is the first funny car body modeled after a Gen 5 Camaro. In the upcoming weeks, you can catch Todd racing June 27-29 at the Route 66 Nationals in Chicago and July 4-6 at the Summit Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio.
