Raptorlining Sarge

By: Jeff 04/19/2023

Sarge is more of a restomod that full restoration. I had decided that I wanted a Jeep that looked great but not a full restoration but with my touches to it. I had seen numerous videos of owners using bedliner to paint the exterior of their vehicles. I knew that was for me but I've never done body work nor painted a Jeep. I'm not really good at rattle can painting so I thought, it's time I learned! I started watching videos on painting and decided that Upol Raptor lining was the way to go for protecting the body but also making Sarge look rugged. It's also forgiving when spraying :) Next, videos on body work and using fiberglass Bondo and a great sander for body work.

I purchased the Raptor liner paint from Upol with color tint Olive Green and a spray gun. I came back from vacation a day or two early and it was going to rain! I was excited! It was time to do this thing! I sanded Sarge lightly so not going to the metal per Upol's instructions, re-did some of the Bondo work to make sure it was the best I could do.

Alcohol wiped Sarge down to remove all dust and contaminants. Sprayed the adhesion promoter to the body to promote the raptor liner sticking properly. I started spraying just like I had learned on the videos and I can't believe it.

It looks great! I did 2 coats with 3rd light coat. Wow! Just Wow! I painted a vehicle! Not too bad for a noob!
