Customer Service Tech Support For Predator 2 Is SECOND TO NONE!!!
By Brian G on May 24, 2024
I am posting this review for a friend of mine who bought the Diablosport 7202 Predator 2 tuner which I specified. His vehicle is a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE 4WD EXT CAB, 5.3L V-8, Auto Trans. Vehicle was a slug when he first acquired it several weeks ago. I installed a high quality cold air system and catback dual exhaust system. I also had to install a new GM throttle body assembly as the former one had serious issues. I installed AC Iridium spark plugs as the engine still had the original AC platinum ones with 110,000 miles on them.
The Predator 2 was purchased so I could do some tweaking to get better performance from the engine. For the record, I am a retired master automotive tech, 50 years experience, so I like to use quality parts when performing repairs and or upgrades, and that includes using quality tuners such as the Predator 2 to get the desired outcome when wanting better performance from a vehicle. That being said, I found out that the previous owner or someone they knew, had apparently used a tuner and did an extremely poor job of reprogramming, either because they used an inferior product, or didn't bother to properly adjust various settings, both for the PCM and the TCM. So, I had my friend take his truck to a shop that had the equipment to reflash the PCM and the TCM. Unfortunately, there was some miscommunication. While that shop's tech did reflash the PCM, he stated that the TCM cablibration files were up to date. Moving ahead, I worked with tech support for Holley's DiabloSport division, and I am extremely impressed with their level of service and professionalism. They tried numerous times to provide me with a workaround solution for the TCM calibration issues, but it just couldn't be done. Rather than to waste anymore of their valuable time, I had my friend drive me back to the shop in his truck, and had the shop reflash the TCM like I wanted done a week ago, explaining to them that regardless of the TCM calibration file date, there was come corruption in the files that can only be fixed by reflashing(overwriting). Needless to say, before I left that place I hooked up the Predator 2 to the OBD II port, and BINGO, everything was a go. Got home and installed one of their tune files, turned OFF the AFM/DOD, and upped the vehicle's speed limiter. Test drove the truck with stock Trans shifting settings, which weren't that great, especially the sloppy shifting from first to second. Reprogrammed the TCM using the Diablo TCM Performance settings and WHAT A DIFFERENCE. 5.3 V-8 has guts now instead of being gutless, and the automatic transmission shifts so much better.
Thank You, Diablosport Tech Support. You're level of customer service, including your communication with customers, is truly awesome. I wish more companies that deal with automotive performance products were that easy to deal with.
