When you think of LS Fest, the various types of racing are probably what come to mind first, whether it be drag racing, autocross, or drifting. However, there are a variety of events to compete in that don't require a race track at all. The first of those takes place on the Saturday morning of LS Fest each year. Two teams arrive with two vehicles ripe for an LS implant, and race to complete the swap using Holley-supplied components. This year, teams from Kentucky and Alabama brought their own '73-87 Chevrolet C/10 trucks. The team that completes the swap first gets to keep all of the components used, including the engine and transmission. Early on, the Alabama-based team built a comfortable lead. However, after starting the truck, Team Alabama couldn't get it to shut off. This provided enough of a delay for Team Kentucky to come from behind as they were able to fire their truck up and successfully complete the road test. All was not lost for Team Alabama though, as they were offered all of the Holley components at a significant discount, which they gladly took advantage of. The Show-N-Shine portion of LS Fest allows anyone with an LS-powered vehicle to get in on the fun by showing off their rides. The show-n-shine features an eclectic mix of vehicles, whether it be a pristine factory example or a wild LS swap into a vehicle that you would never expect to find such a drivetrain. With several categories, the potential to bring home a trophy is there for almost any type of LS-powered vehicle in existence.

The dyno challenge is another way to establish ultimate bragging rights for the next 364 days. Numbers never lie, and the dyno will always separate the contenders from the pretenders. This year, Kyle Katzenbach's Trailblazer SS put down a monstrous 1105 horsepower to take first in the power adder category, while Charlie Polly's '98 Camaro set the pace for naturally aspirated cars, knocking down 641 horsepower.
