Pony Up

We bought a sonic blue 2004 GT back in 2015 with a little over 70,000 miles to start off with. We started off doing every bolt-on upgrade you can do. We did a throttle body and plenum, x-pipe, flow masters, cold air intake, etc. After every bolt on upgrade we could do, we were still only at about 300 hp. We then started upgrading every suspension part we could (including a pan hard bar, and side rails to stiffen up the chassis in order to "button it up," and make it safer before going too big with the power. We chose forced induction to get to 400 hp. We added with a 2.1 kenne bell. We were at 399 ft. Lb of torque and 406 horse power. We have now decided to rebuild the bottom end with forged pistons and rods, replace the top end with trickflow heads, beefed up the transmission, and replaced the blower with a 2.8 mammoth kenne bell. We should be around 600-800 on pump gas, and up to 1,000 with ethanol. It would have been cheaper and less labor to do a coyote and transmission swap, but I have loved these cars since I was in hs, and wanted to keep the major components original. This truly is a one of a kind build and is the only one in the world exactly like it! Not to mention we have stage three comp cams and it sounds gnarly with a 2V. I am thankful and happy with this build. Anyone can go out a buy a car, but it more satisfying to go out a build your car!
