  • Vehicle Overview

I bought this mid engine rail about 6 years ago, I specifically wanted a mid-engine rail as a driver and not a wheelie machine. The car had a lot of flaws, mini arms and suspension up front, spindles, an 8 gallon tank, non-working radio, undersized radiator fans, and the Mendeola 2D was in bad shape. To date I have put a fully custom front suspension +3 size in DOM & heims with hollows up front to run bigger tires (third pic vs first pic before I got the new tires), New fans, new radio, etc. etc. I added a 28 gallon sema approved fuel cell with pickup, and a full race bladder, oil cooler on the 2D and lot's of other "frame strengthening" upgrades. The LS6 intake ended up cracking and I was looking for more torque so I through on a truck intake with an elephant horn and it actually runs great. I am gearing up to fully rewire the entire vehicle, and one of the big steps is upgrading the engine management (described in future plans). A lot of my friends say sell it and buy want you want new, but I like the experience knowing that this rail is a creation of my driving experiences and building something a bit unique. The car is pushing about 430 HP with 415 Ft-LB @5200 but it has some really bad wiring which has caused several frustrations and I am ready to finally address that and bring the project closer to finished :-).

    Future Plans

Motor History: Originally built by Redline Motorsports, it is an LS6 (Casting #'s 12561168) and has a pretty (very) aggressive CAM of unknown detail managed by an old MEFI B. I may build the motor to a 383 Stroker in the future, but right now I just want to tackle the wiring and computer. As you can imagine the motor has the least amount of sensors possible running a MEFI. I know the Terminator X would probably do fine, other than my concern about the HEAT & SAND given the nature of the driving conditions. Therefor I think I would prefer to go with the HP EFI even though it is technically much more than I need for this type of applications. My question comes down to exactly what sensors should I get (I'm not 100% an engine guy, but fairly knowledgeable). My guess right now is the standard HP kit for LS1/LS6 with 24x reluctor and HKS MAP sensor with Bosch style injectors, should I replace radiator temp? oil pressure? fuel? I have no exhaust sensors so what should I get (do you need 1 for each exhaust pipe since they do not merge)? Should I buy new injectors, or just stick with what I have initially? I know I will go with the 7-inch panel, in fact I will be adding a Lowrance GPS, in dash fuse box, etc. as I wire the car exactly how I want it. This is a pretty big project for me and I just want to get it correct, perhaps it's more than I should tackle on my own but your manuals seem to be fairly detailed and straight forward. Any advice / inputs would be appreciated. Thanks, JP
