Vehicle Overview

It's an old Saskatchewan prairie farm truck that I bought for my son 5 years ago. It is on its 3rd engine swap (all 350 TBI) and 3rd transmission swap. I somehow ended up with it and started driving it this past spring (2023). I have been slowly making it better. It now has shorty headers and a 3 inch exhaust system. I also installed an injector spacer, a TBI spacer, and new spark plugs. I've also added a new air cleaner bowl device which allows more air into the intake and I've removed the old constricting air box and modified the air cleaner to a dual snorkel design with ram tubes. It's performance is much better now than before, but there's only so much one can do with a TBI truck motor. Whatever I do with this truck, it will be trying to make use of what I have available. It's a truck that will be used for truck things. It gets cold up here in the winter (-40 degrees Celsius) and hot in the summer (+ 40 degrees Celsius). An LS swap would be cool, but I don't have lots of time, space, or patience. :)

Future Plans

I do have some interesting options including a low-mileage Vortec 350 (currently carbed) and a GM Industrial small journal 327 from a 1965 Massey Fergusson 410 Special Combine. This latter engine is apparently a 4-bolt main with forged steel internals made to run at 3,800 RMP for hours at a time. I have a separate set of low mileage Vortec 350 Heads from a 2002 Chevrolet Van and I have a new GM Performance camshaft I can install. I also have a 2WD 4L80E that I can install and a 12 bolt differential. I even found a set of matching factory bucket seats (low back) and console which I will be installing this fall. I have some rust work to do (rear fender arches, cab corners, driver's side rocker panel) and a bit of dent repair. The kids are all grown and I have time, tools, and enough knowledge to figure out how to do this all myself (with some help from my sons and youtube).
