Vehicle Overview
This is a project I worked on with my son a number of years ago. He wanted his first car so I said, let's build one. I spent 6 months or so looking for a Vega and found this panel express just a few blocks away. He and I spent a year building the car. The first build included a stock throttle body 350 swap. The transmission was the original Saginaw 4 speed but with overdrive. The rear end was an S10 with 373 gears and I did an S10 spindle swap on the front end. The car ran great and my son had a lot of fun with it. Two years ago I bought the car from my son as he was going to a masters program and needed money. Over the winter I removed the engine and had it rebuilt adding forged pistons and new Eagle rods. I also had AFR919 heads installed along with a mild cam. I swapped the old Saginaw for a T5. I also fabricated and welded in subframe connectors and did other suspension work. I installed a Holley Sniper and Hyperspark system as well. The car is very quick.
