  • Vehicle Overview

I purchased the car in April of 2020 from a gentleman in Virginia, who I believe was the third owner, my 1973 Mach-1 Mustang, was originally a low compression Q-Code, 351-Cleveland but after that owner had some issues with the original motor, he transplanted a high compression 1970 M-Code 351-Cleveland-4V/Closed Combustion Chamber Heads (11.0:1 compression) into it. And I can say that I am glad that he did. The car is equipped with the factory Ford Toploader wide-ratio 4-Speed transmission, an Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake manifold, a Holley 4160 (750 cfm) 4-barrel carburetor, an MSD Ready-to-Run Electronic Ignition Distributor and Coil, a Zoom Hi-Performance 11.0" Organic Composite Clutch and Pressure Plate, 14" Magnum 500 Wheels, 9" Ford rear axle with 3.25 rear (non-locking) differential gears, The previous owner (from Virginia) had replaced the floor pans, both front fenders, both rear quarter panels, the hood, the drivers side door and the trunk floor before he had it repainted in 1996. So its safe to say there is absolutely No Rust on this car and it won't get the chance to rust again as long as I own it as it is now kept in a heated garage, and I do not drive it in the rain ever. The car looks really good from 10 feet away and I always get a lot of compliments on it every time I take it out for a cruise on sunny days but the paint job has a lot of little nicks and scratches from years of wear and tear so I plan to have it repainted in the near future.

    Future Plans

I want to replace the existing 14" Magnum 500 wheels and 225/60R14 tires with new 15" Magnum Wheels (15x10 rear, 15x8 front) and new Cooper or B.F Goodrich 295/50R15 tires on the rear and 245/60R15 on front, a Traction-Lock rear differential, 3.91 rear differential gears, a hi-performance (Comp Cams "Thumpa") street/strip camshaft and lifters, and have some significant head work (stainless steel valves, new valve springs, roller rocker arms, Chromoly push rods, hardened valve seats, ported and polished), performed on those high flowing 4V heads. I would also like to have it repainted in the next year or two with the same factory Blue Glow color but with a bit more metallic added and have the worn interior upholstery replaced. i also want to replace the existing original (4-leaf) rear leaf springs with a slightly 1" or 2" higher 5-leaf setup (before the new wheels and tires go on it).
