In its 23rd year now, the one-day classic car event is called Cruisin’ For a Cure (CFAC) and it is done to promote prostate cancer awareness. There is free testing onsite, and no it's not what you might be thinking. A nurse simply draws a vial of blood and the test is over. The results are sent to KSK Cancer Center of Irvine, California, where Dr. Tokida has been tracking repeat participants every year and will personally call anyone that has a rise in their Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) level, or a first-timer to CFAC with elevated PSA results. The goal is early detection and to keep gearhead's healthy, wrenching, and driving as long as possible. All proceeds and donations from CFAC go directly to prostate cancer research at KSK Cancer Center to help develop a cure.
The preparations for CFAC begin before the sun rises on Friday morning with the crème de la crème of show cars and trucks packing OC Fair & Event Center’s “The Hangar” sponsored by Meguiar’s car care products. For 2022 The Hangar was home to a host of past AMBR (America’s Most Beautiful Roadster) and Detroit Autorama Ridler winners and contenders, plus a selection SEMA show vehicles and choice stuff from the streets of Orange County.
The route that Cruisin’ For A Cure takes is 1.5 miles through the Orange County Fairgrounds, circling past hundreds of vendors, parked participants relaxing under tents and trees, and hundreds of folks strolling along enjoying the open header moving car show. In addition to revenue the public generates at the gate, club participation from clubs like the Orange County Chapter of Pickups Ltd. have made Cruisin’ For A Cure their main charity to support each year.

This Volkswagen Transporter sat nicely on Fuchs-style Porsche wheels.
Red paint, white scallops, and lakes pipes...this 1949 Mercury "half-top" is a knockout!
Evil, wicked, mean, nasty...there are plenty of ways to describe this V8-swapped Ford Pinto.
You want rare? How about this Holden Torana SS hatchback? An uncommon sight in the States, this one has all the makings of the properly wicked "A9X" optioned cars, complete with 5.0L Holden V8 underhood.
Every year the crew from the Orange County chapter of Pickups Ltd. roll in deep and support CFAC with a healthy donation.
