Holley EFI Powers Sheehan To Strong Finishes in Trans-Am TA2

In America, it could be said that the two most popular motorsports are NASCAR stock car racing and NHRA drag racing. While we love all types of racing, there is another sanctioning body out there that is putting American muscle cars on tracks that require left and right turns. On a given weekend, you can see Camaros, Challengers, and Mustangs trading paint on road courses such as Sebring International Raceway, Homestead-Miami Speedway, Mid-Ohio, Road Atlanta, and much more. For the younger generation, you may have only seen these locales in YouTube videos or your favorite simulation racing game. The first half of the TA2 Trans-Am season has been filled with consistent finishes for Tom Sheehan and his #97 LTK Insulation Technologies Chevrolet Camaro. Only five drivers have more top-10 finishes than the four scored by Sheehan. The LTK team has minimized the ebbs and flows of a racing series where one disastrous weekend can have a major effect on the overall standings by finishing every race, and placing outside of the top-20 only once. According to Sheehan, “Trans-Am Racing, particularly The TA2 class, has been closely contested all season and I don't expect that to change in Ohio. The rules package creates a pretty level playing field." This is a phrase that fans of drag racing and stock car racing have heard many times before. Sanctioning bodies always do their best to create rules packages that leave very little room for interpretation. Any area that is the slightest shade of gray will be exploited by racers as much as possible. Luckily for Sheehan and Holley, rules allow him to use Holley EFI. While speaking with us about the upcoming race in Ohio, Sheehan explained, "As a driver, we look for any advantages that we can exploit. This LTK Camaro has run top-10 consistently. Holley has provided an electronic control package that puts the race in my hands. As a driver, you can't ask for any more than that. I believe we have something for them in Ohio. I love the track, We like our chances." Sheehan is currently ninth in points with six races remaining. If you're able to make it to Mid-Ohio, the TA2 class will be racing in the FirstEnergy Muscle Car Challenge presented by 3-Dimensional Services at 4:45 p.m. on Friday, August 14.
