Holley MoParty 2021 - Burnout Contest

If there is anything Mopars are known for, it's power. Raw, unruly power that is best on full display. Hollywood knows this...that's why cars like Chargers, Challengers, 'Cudas and even old squad cars are the go-to when they need a machine that can turn the rear tires to fluffy white clouds at a moment's notice. You don't just roll out with the most vibrant colors, cartoon characters, stripes everywhere and just park and sit. That's not only the same thing as teaching an angry tiger to roll over and play dead, it's about as thrilling. You could have the most sinister-looking GTX or the most plane-jane-vanilla Aspen on the property, but if the rear tires can be spun, then the burnout contest at MoParty 2021 was the place to do it.

The rules were simple: competitors came out one-at-a-time to the burnout pit marked off by cones in the center of Beech Bend's oval track. Once cleared, they had a minute to raise hell to the best of their ability before the flags were waived and the horns blasted, ending their turn. A broad spread of Mopars came out to play, from a Chrysler 300C whose 5.7L Hemi was down at least two cylinders when it limped into the pit to an absolutely gorgeous Road Runner that looked like it got lost on the way to a show...right up until the massive rear wheels started spinning up. Trucks came out in force for the contest, including two stout Dakotas, a Warlock, and a longbed Adventurer that looked like Grandpa's trusty pickup but sounded like Junior's weekend warrior. But ultimately, it was the 1951 Dodge B-series flatbed dually of Fed Up Fabrications, complete with it's turbocharged 360, that stole the show. If it wasn't for the logo on the door you wouldn't be too surprised if you saw this truck just up the road with baskets of apples and pumpkins on it for sale. Instead, at the signal the four rear tires turned into an inferno and one minute later the truck rolled off of the pad with the exhaust glowing like an ember from a fire that had only just gone out.

Want a closer look at the 2021 Holley MoParty burnout winner? Josh Dietrich's 1951 Dodge stood out against late-model hot rods and muscle machines, but the big ol' flatbed had plenty of grunt to send all four rear tires up in smoke!

Kenny Matlock's 1968 Plymouth Road Runner is one part Viper, two parts radical custom, and well over a thousand horsepower worth of Hemi-motivated muscle machine.
