Redemption Song: Kenneth Sean’s 1993 Terminator-Powered Notchback

In the world of Fox Body Mustangs, few stories blend raw horsepower with redemption quite like Kenneth Sean’s. His 1993 Ford Mustang Notchback isn’t just a car—it’s a symbol of endurance, faith, and rebirth. From the streets of Chicago to the show circuits of Georgia, Kenneth’s journey behind the wheel mirrors the story of a man rebuilding his life, one bolt at a time.

Born into the Car Culture

Kenneth Kenneth’s passion for cars started before he could even speak. “The first word that came out of my mouth was car,” he laughs. Raised on Chicago’s south side, Kenneth grew up around his father’s impressive fleet of classics—Lincolns, Thunderbirds, and Corvettes—all housed in a warehouse that became his playground. His father owned as many as 16 vehicles at once, all Fords or Chevys, but it was the Fords that left the deepest impression.

That early influence ignited a lifelong obsession. “When I saw the green Mustang GT in Menace II Society back in ’93, I knew that was it,” Kenneth recalls. “That was the car.”

Fox Body Beginnings

By age 17, Kenneth had saved up for his first Mustang—a 1991 GT hatchback. “$4,900 felt like a fortune,” he says. “I was paying $500 a month for it.” That GT was his introduction to wrenching. He and his friends tore into the motor, learning everything through trial and error. “We thought pulling the A/C off made it faster,” he laughs. “It just made it hotter.”

Soon after, he traded up to a Notchback—the lightweight coupe that dominated the street racing scene. “When I crossed into the street racing side, that was the start of the gift and the curse,” he admits. His skill behind the wheel earned him a reputation, but it also brought trouble. One fateful race ended in tragedy—a crash that changed his life forever. “That was my introduction to meeting God,” Kenneth says. “I should’ve died that night.”

Faith, Family, and a Second Chance

After serving time and losing his license, Kenneth stepped away from racing completely. For over a decade, he focused on faith, ministry, and family. But new challenges emerged—health battles, a brain tumor, and epilepsy. “When you hear ‘tumor on your brain,’ everything stops,” he says. “You start thinking about what really matters.”

Through surgery and recovery, Kenneth leaned on his faith—and eventually found his way back to cars. “After my divorce, I realized I’d lost myself,” he reflects. “I needed something to bring me joy again. That’s when I started looking for the car I’d always wanted—a ’93 black-on-black notchback.”

Building the Dream: The Terminator Swap

In 2016, he found it—a 40,000-mile ’93 coupe for $19,000. “That felt high back then,” he says. “Now it’s a steal.” What began as a clean driver soon turned into a full-blown build. “The clutch went out after two weeks. Next thing you know, I’m deep in another project.”

Instead of following the growing Coyote swap trend, Kenneth decided to do something different: a Terminator swap. A Terminator is a factory supercharged 4.6-liter DOHC V8 engine from the 2003 to 2004 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra. Known for its robust, factory-built internals, it produced 390 horsepower in stock form and is highly regarded by enthusiasts for its significant tuning potential. The engine features a cast-iron block, forged pistons, a forged crankshaft, and an Eaton M112 roots-type supercharger. Looking for next level performance, Kenneth acquired a 2.3-liter Whipple supercharger. “Everybody was doing Coyotes,” he says. “I wanted to set the trend, not follow it.”

The combination delivers a staggering 740 horsepower to the rear wheels, propelling the lightweight 2,900-pound coupe with brutal precision. Every part of the setup reflects Sean’s relentless attention to detail and performance engineering. Supporting the swap is a modern Holley EFI system — chosen for its reliability, tunability, and clean integration with the Fox Body’s simplified wiring. “Holley EFI gave me the confidence to push the limits,” Sean says. “It’s one thing to build power, but Holley makes it controllable.” The result is a streetable monster that idles smooth, pulls hard, and perfectly represents the balance between old-school muscle and modern technology.

With help from friends and countless late nights in his garage, Kenneth transformed the humble Blue Oval into a street monster. “There wasn’t any info out there on doing Terminator swaps in Fox Bodies,” he explains. “I had to figure everything out the hard way—sometimes three or four times.”

The finished product is a stunning black-on-black ’93 that blends classic lines with modern muscle. The car’s stance, power, and precision reflect not only craftsmanship but also conviction. Rolling stock consists of Billet Specialty wheels and Michelin rubber. Upgraded hardware from Baer Brakes is nestled behind the gold hued five-spoke wheels.

More Than Metal

Today, Kenneth’s Mustang has taken him around the country, earning trophies and respect at every show. But for him, the real reward isn’t the car—it’s the community and the clarity it brought him. “The car is cool, but the people are cooler,” he says. “It’s opened doors I never imagined. The Fox Body world is full of genuine folks.”

Now remarried and a father, Kenneth has a new perspective. “When I was single, I could spend all night in the garage. But now, I realize my family comes first. God had to remind me that everything I have—including this car—is from Him.”

In 2025, Kenneth marked a new milestone: baptism. “It’s a new chapter,” he says proudly. “God saved my life more than once. This Mustang is part of my story, but it’s not the whole story.”

Legacy of a Notchback

Kenneth Kenneth’s 1993 Mustang is more than just a build—it’s a testimony. From wreckage to restoration, from rebellion to redemption, his story reminds us that life’s greatest rebuilds don’t happen in the garage—they happen in the heart.

“Trust God,” Kenneth says with a smile. “Don’t trust the car. Because one day, the car might not start—but He always will.”
