Don Hoover's award-winning '55 Chevy is equally at home on the street or the strip, a showstopper at car shows and soon a powerful threat on the drag strips of the southeastern U.S. as part of the 2018 Hot Rod Drag Week. Hoover, a lifelong drag racing fan who practically grew up at legendary U.S. 30 Drag Strip just outside Chicago in Gary, Ind., has owned a '55 Chevy since he got out of high school in the 1970s, but this one, "The Savage," is not that car.
