From the Holley Back Lot to Holley LS Fest: Chris Hyatt's Turbocharged LS Chevelle

Recognize Chris Hyatt's Chevelle? It's been the subject of numerous project builds going back more than 20 years and has been in his possession only since early this year. The second-generation drag racer, son of late the clutch specialist and longtime track official Tim Hyatt, bought the car from an eBay ad. It had sat neglected in the back lot of Holley Performance with no engine until Hyatt brought it back to life with a turbocharged 5.3 LS powerplant. Hyatt, from Thompson, Ohio, home of venerable Thompson Raceway Park, completely re-plumbed and rewired the entire car and turned the 3,500-pound hulk (everything on the car except the hood is made of steel) into a 9-second drag machine that he drives to work every day. He ran a then-best of 10.18 with the car at LS Fest earlier this year, later dipped into the 9-second zone, and plans to be back with at LS Fest next year and every year.
