As the engines roar and tire smoke billows through the air at Holley MoParty 2024, the car show stands out as a celebration of Mopar power and automotive artistry. This year, the event has taken its already impressive lineup of vehicles and added even more excitement, recognition, and community spirit.
The car show is a chance to see some of the country's best Mopar-powered vehicles, each showcasing their builders' dedication, creativity, and craftsmanship. From vintage classics to modern muscle, this vibrant display highlights the diverse and innovative spirit of the Mopar community. A curated panel of industry professionals, builders, automotive influencers, and content creators has been assembled to select the coveted MoParty™ Power Picks. These distinguished individuals will help recognize and celebrate standout vehicles that embody the essence of Mopar performance and style.
This year, Holley MoParty introduces the Club Participation Award. With 15 reserved spots for club parking and marking materials provided by MoParty, it's a fantastic opportunity to showcase club pride and camaraderie. In addition to the standard awards, notable accolades such as Kid's Pick, Holley Pick, and more will be given to highlight exceptional vehicles. Clubs that register by September 7th can take advantage of designated parking spots and the chance to mark their area, ensuring a prominent display of their collective passion.
Imagine stumbling upon a time capsule of automotive history, where each vehicle tells a story. Mel's Survivors showcase isn’t just an exhibit; it's a tribute to the rare, unmodified Mopar gems that have miraculously withstood the test of time. As we celebrate the 2024 MoParty, we pay homage to the late Mel Major's legendary commitment to preserving these automotive treasures.
Mel Major's legacy continues through his meticulously curated collection of authentic Mopar vehicles, untouched and unspoiled by the hands of restoration. His passion for preserving these rolling artifacts has inspired countless enthusiasts, and this year's showcase is no exception. Each vehicle in the Mel's Survivors lineup represents a piece of automotive history that remains true to its roots—no repainting, no upgrades, just the raw, unblemished essence of what made Mopar great.
Following Mel's passing in August 2022, his son Greg has carried forward his father's meticulous standards, ensuring that the spirit of Mel's Survivors lives on. Here are a few new members we enjoyed learning about.
One of the most fantastic cars in this year's collection is this 440 six-pack 4-speed, bought new by Rick Edwards. He recently signed it over to his son, Rick II Edwards. "Driven it since day one," said Rick. "It's never been on a trailer, unless twice when it broke." There are 172,000 miles on the odometer. He stumbled across the car on his way home from work one day sitting at a dealer lot. He discussed with his wife and the rest was history. It's been a family vehicle ever since, road tripping all around the US.
They still have the original motor in the basement, and the lower section of the driver's side quarter panel had work done, but it's otherwise original. The Plymouth letters and vinyl top are untouched.
David and Angela Fletcher brought this 1978 Plymouth Roadrunner for their first time at MoParty. It was bought new by Angela's uncle, and used as the family's daily driver for 10 years.
It was parked in 1990, and in November of 2023 they brought it back to life. "We just cleaned it up, and brought it here," said David. It has 102,000 miles on the odometer, and everything is original. They've replaced the tires, "and the battery one time."
