We can hear you already. "Wait a minute...what happened to Day Two coverage of Sick Week?"
That's a reasonable question to ask, and we have a perfectly reasonable answer. Regardless of the fact that Sick Week 2022 is being held in Florida and Georgia, it is still early February and that means that weather can and will happen, regardless of what is going on with the schedule. So when the weather forecast went from just being cloudy to raining, there was little choice but to cancel racing at Orlando Speedway and move on. The competitors were required to stop at Orlando Speedway to get a photo with either the tower or the staging lanes, but then they got to move on to Gainesville Raceway. For some racers, this was little more than an annoyance. For others, this was a blessing in disguise, allowing them to make repairs and deal with the mechanical drama that the trip had dished out to them along the way. The tour along Daytona Beach and a stop for ice cream along the way were certainly welcomed, even in the cool, rainy weather.
Another one bites the dust. Tom McGilton's 2013 Camaro ZL1 is out with issues. That now means that Tom Bailey, the Schroeder-Ens Corvette, McGilton and other veterans with proven machines have all had to call it a week.
Nick "Nicky Bobby" Taylor busted off a 7.10 pass, which is the fastest of his career to date. His determination was to crack off a six-second pass at South Georgia Motorsports Park and that looks likely, with his third-gen Camaro closing in on some of the faster Unlimited class cars.
