1978-1987 Pontiac Grand Prix - LS Swap

1978 was the first year a V8 was not the standard engine for the Grand Prix as the car lost 600 lbs. in an effort to improve fuel efficiency. However, its G-Body platform is a solid base to build upon with numerous parts and compatibility with several different GM engines. If you want to drop a Gen III/IV engine in your Grand Prix, our LS swap systems can get it done.

Step 1: Engine and Transmission Mounts

  • Get that GM LS Engine Mounted in the 1978-1988 GM G-Body
  • Two engine mounting choices: engine brackets w/ SBC style mounts or crossmember brackets w/ 4th Gen F-body style engine mounts that allow LS/LT interchangeability
  • Transmission Options: TH400, 200R4, 4L60E, 4L65E, 4L70E, 4L75E, 4L80E, 4L85E, T56, and T56 Magnum

Step 2: Oil Pans

  • Factory oil pans don't fit or they hang too low on engine swaps
  • Engine swap oil pans provide maximum clearance to the chassis and ground
  • OE (Original Equipment) style fitment for durability, strength, and proper sealing
  • Choose from natural aluminum casting, carbon black ceramic finish, or fabricated sheetmetal depending on the application
  • Complete kit with sump baffle, OE style pickup, drain plug, oil filter stud, and oil passage cover

Step 3: Exhaust Manifolds and Systems

  • Intended for GM LS engine swap applications where durability, quiet operation, and leak-free sealing is desired
  • Cast from Hi-Silicon-Moly Ductile Iron to provide durability and corrosion resistance
  • Tight tuck design provides universal fit for most popular chassis and a clean traditional muscle car appearance

Step 6: Swap Accessories

  • Replace the Factory Rag Joint with a Modern Steering Shaft that Features U-Joints at Both Ends
  • DBW pedal and pedal mounts offer a plug and play solution for DBW installation
