Power Tour

By: Jeremy 07/15/2020

In 2018 I finally got to go on the Power Tour, something that I have wanted to do for many years but either didn't have the time or money to go.

When we left Kansas and headed toward Bowling Green my engine had about 50 miles on it (mostly from tuning the engine) since I had finished rebuilding it so needless to say I was a bit nervous about breaking down on the side of the road. Pulling into the dragstrip in I felt like I was on top of the world, the truck ran flawlessly and now we were there surrounded by beautiful, fast cars and trucks.

During my engine build I discussed with many friends how much power the engine would make and we all had our own guesses, this brings us to the dyno. I pay my money, back the truck onto the dyno and make two pulls, but my truck kept downshifting so the guy tells me that we can make one more pull. With my dad, and my buddies all watching I want to get a good number so I go for broke, and ended up doing exactly that. My driveshaft broke right in the middle, I knew better I have read articles about spinning the driveshaft to fast but I did it anyway.

After that I had to rent a car to finish the tour with (its not cool pulling into the venues in a chevy cruze), a driveline shop in Bowling Green built me a new driveshaft a few days later and we drove back home without issue.

I cant wait to go on the Power Tour Again, but I am going to stay away from the Dyno this time!
