  • Vehicle Overview

Bought this old ElCo from a field, after the family brought it out here from California. Originally a V6 car, but the prior owner had dreams of big block swapping, so it came with a freshly rebuilt 454. Bored 30 over, now a 460. Fresh pistons, bearings, and valvetrain. Pulled the engine out and gave it a good inspection and mild refresh with new gaskets. Project is slow going with money being the limiting factor. Rewiring the whole car with a Painless harness, added a stronger battery, starter, and alternator. Added a Weiand intake and Demon 750 carb. It has a mild flat tappet cam, and the block has been decked for mildly higher compression compared to its original form in a 76 pickup. Topped off with fresh MSD ignition, this should run pretty clean. Backed by a rebuilt TH400, it should go down the road nice and easy. Vintage 14" Cragars. Fairly clean interior.

    Future Plans

Plan to switch to Holley Terminator EFI, rebuild the engine with aluminum heads, stoker crank, stronger rods and pistons, and a hotter roller cam. Switch to a 4L80e and add a Ford 9" to the rear. Aiming for a 700hp naturally aspirated big block running on E-85. Add in some 17" bronze wheels, better suspension, bigger brakes, and a Dakota Digital dash system for a sleek street and strip ride while keeping the exterior exactly the same. Making it great for grocery runs, Cars & Coffee, or the occasional drag and drive event.
