Vehicle Overview

I've wanted a truck like this for a decade now. I think that's pretty significant for someone who was 24 at the time of purchase. A crew cab, long bed, single rear wheel, four wheel drive, full ton pickup truck. I was 20 or 21 when I found the truck online; wasn't even looking to buy anything. I was just window shopping and dreaming when I stumbled on the photo and noticed it said "for sale" in the caption, and it stuck in my mind when I saw the $3,500 price tag. Two college graduations and a few months into a career later, I bought it, surprised it was still available. It began its life 40 years ago as a USAF truck, and was donated to the Peoria, Texas volunteer fire department in 1996, retired some time in 2015, and was sold at auction in September 2015. Up until new years of 2023, it had been sitting in a field since, with 69,000 original miles on the 351 Windsor. At the end of 2022, bought it, had it hauled from Texas to North Carolina, and it was under the knife until new years of 2024, getting some basic mechanic work in to get it driving. New steering column, completely new power steering system, new brakes, new gas tank, new ignition and electrical components, so on and so on (not to mention the seized, then unseized motor). After it was ready, I drove it from North Carolina to Maine in less than 24 hours with zero problems, but not before a stop for some Fluid Film undercoating, Now, the focus is to get it ready for some occasional medium duty off road use.

Future Plans

A mild engine build, ample rust protection, coil spring conversion and lift kit, recovery gear, and undercarriage protection.
