Shaun great built this is exactly what I want to do for my 1968 v8 266cc. questions: 1) how do you like the dual tank pump? any issues 2) What do you use for ignition system? I currently have stock distributor. 3) Any recommendations or changes you would make in hindsight for someone starting from stock?
    • Hi Daniel, sorry I'm only just seeing this now! The dual pump is great, and being able to switch from the dash is much better than reaching under the seat. You can wire up the switch to also switch between the fuel sender at the same time, however it was a little more involved and as I was running out of time I just used 2 switches with the original IH wiring for the senders.
    • I liked keeping the saddle tanks, especially as it's such a unique feature of the Scout, but only having to fill up one side would make daily driving more convenient. You will have to order the dual pimp kit separately which gives you everything you need (fuel pump in the master kit vs the dual pump kit are very slightly different though).
    • I drove it across the US, about 4500-5000 miles with the stock distributor/points and it drove very well, didn't miss a beat. I then put on a distributor modified by Bill Hamilton so I could control timing and it is even better (even though getting my initial timing settings dialed in took a little bit). If you do the install send me a msg and I can share my current timing settings.
    • I currently have the fuel pickup coming from the original drain plugs and the returns going back into the original fuel lines up top which is not ideal but works. I would highly recommend either plumbing the tanks properly by welding in a pickup/return line fitting if you are able, or ordering new tanks from Binder Boneyard which have the dual pickups already installed for FI. Order ahead of time as there can be a 5-6 week turnaround time.

I love it, I wonder what your timing looks like, I just got. Bill Hamiltons new distributor and would love to compare or get some good base ideas from you.
