Vehicle Overview

After a string of used Oldsmobiles and “safe” Volvos, my grandfather purchased this car new from Friendly Chevrolet in Minnesota. First new car 15 years prior to his passing. A blue collar worker his entire life, he never spent money except to feed his family and fix up his house or if a family member fell on hard times. Then one day he decided it was time to purchase a new car for summer road trips. Saw ads for the Buick Roadmaster (a platform mate) and always said those were the best cars on the road. But we may have had a bit of influence when we saw the Impalas in black, and said that’s the car for you. Managed to rack up over 100k miles during trips to Idaho, Wisconsin, and California for his golden wedding anniversary. Never allowing grandma to drive it saying it was too powerful. Locking the keys up in his safe and never taking it out during Minnesota winters. I was given the car to drive while I was home from WyoTech. Later being given the car to care for before he passed on. To this day it’s never seen winter. Has been to CarCraft Summer Nationals several times.

Future Plans

Would like to do a body off build. Repowering with either LS or later LT. And the numbers 427 are simply stuck in my head. Does need a repaint as it suffers from the clear coat falling off.
