In 1964, Chevrolet unveiled the redesigned El Camino as a more utilitarian take on its A-Body architecture. Marketed as a utility vehicle, Chevy's most powerful engines didn't initially make it into the El Camino's engine bay. Luckily, GM came to its senses as optional small and big-block powerplants became available after its first year in production.
