Unexpected Problems

By: Ron 04/02/2021

Nov. 27, 2020 - While getting the Exhaust off the car to put the 5-speed in, I had a few issues due to rust. First the bolts on the H-pipe were frozen, I had to cut a couple of them off, no big deal, then one of the bolts for the factory headers was stuck and almost impossible to get to, so it got cut off also, a bit more hassle than I was ready for. So, now I have to pull the headers off to fix the bolt/stud on the flange. Well, when I pulled off the H-pipe I found out why my exhaust started sounding a little better as the autocross season wore on. As illustrated in the photos, the mufflers were rusted off at the tail pipes, not good. I really hadn't counted on replacing the exhaust this year. So I decided to order Flowmaster's American Thunder cat-back exhaust, an X-pipe, and some long tube headers from BBK. Money, money, money!
