Priming the LS
11/02/2019
I wanted to prime the oil system on my LS before I tried to start it up. I got a used SBC oil pump for $10 and a 1 gallon pail from the Hardware store for another $10. I tapped and installed a fitting on the output of the oil pump and then mounted the pump to the inside lid of the pail. Then I got an extra oil gallery plug from the auto wreckers and taped it for a fitting. A rubber hose between the two fittings and I was ready to prime. It ended up being a good thing that I primed it before the engine was installed in the car because I had an oil leak at the back of the motor. The rear seal oil cover developed a small crack, right where the high pressure oil cross's over from one lifter galley to the other.
